Order: IKEA work confirmed first, then the most local, then by name. Nobody can pay to move up this list.
On the island of Montréal, the IKEA most people mean is the one on Cavendish Boulevard in Saint-Laurent, close to where the Décarie and the Metropolitan meet. It’s a straightforward trip from the West Island, Côte-des-Neiges, NDG and the Plateau, and several bus lines stop at the door.
Off the island, the South Shore has its own full store, IKEA Boucherville, on De Touraine near Autoroute 20. IKEA also runs a Plan and order point in Brossard, by Quartier DIX30. That one is a planning office with one-on-one kitchen appointments, not a shop. Further out, there are Plan and order points in Vaudreuil for the off-island west, and in Boisbriand and Lachenaie for the North Shore.
Those are the places for cabinet boxes and inner drawers. The fronts are your call. Custom doors for IKEA kitchens can suit a long, narrow plex kitchen in Rosemont or Villeray as well as a new condo in Griffintown. If you already have a SEKTION kitchen, refacing an IKEA kitchen with new fronts is far less upheaval than replacing it.
Language matters here. Quebec’s Charter of the French Language means customers can expect to be served in French, so makers who work in Quebec quote and communicate in French, and many in English too.
With Fronts you can send your IKEA plan once and compare refacers who measure and install on the island and the South Shore with makers who ship flat-packed custom fronts.
Not a full store. Brossard has an IKEA Plan and order point at 8480 boulevard Leduc, Suite 70, near Quartier DIX30, where you can book a kitchen planning appointment. The South Shore’s full store is IKEA Boucherville at 586 De Touraine. On the island, IKEA Montreal is at 9191 boulevard Cavendish in Saint-Laurent.
Yes, and in Quebec you’re entitled to. The Charter of the French Language requires businesses to be able to serve and answer customers in French. Many makers who work in Montréal are comfortable in English as well. Mention your preference when you send your plan, and ask for drawings and invoices in the same language.
Yes, but think about the stairs. Many Montréal plexes have narrow interior staircases or steep outdoor ones, and tall pantry doors or long cover panels can be awkward to carry up. Ask how the maker packs and delivers long pieces. Refacers who install usually bring the fronts up themselves, which takes that worry off your hands.
