Custom fronts for IKEA kitchens across Connecticut

Connecticut’s IKEA store is in New Haven, just off I-95 by the harbor, and IKEA also lists a pick-up point in North Branford. For Fairfield County and the shoreline towns, New Haven is an easy run. Hartford, the Litchfield Hills and the Quiet Corner are farther away, and from the northeast of the state IKEA Stoughton in Massachusetts can be about as close.

Many Connecticut kitchens sit in older colonials, capes and two-family houses, where a full custom kitchen is a big investment. IKEA kitchen refacing is the middle path: IKEA cabinet boxes, then custom fronts in a painted shaker, beadboard-style or wood finish that suits the house. A refacer can measure and install, or a maker can ship flat-packed doors for your own carpenter.

Whoever works in your home should be registered. Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection requires home improvement contractors to register, and hiring a registered one gives you access to the state’s Home Improvement Guaranty Fund if a job goes wrong. Check a contractor’s registration on the department’s lookup before you sign.

Should I visit IKEA New Haven before ordering custom doors?

It helps. Seeing the cabinet frames, drawers and interior fittings in person makes planning easier, and you can book a kitchen planning appointment there. You don’t need to buy IKEA’s own doors to finish the plan: pick any style as a placeholder, then upload the plan to Fronts so makers can price custom fronts for the same layout.
