Illinois has two IKEA stores, both in the Chicago suburbs: Bolingbrook and Schaumburg. IKEA has announced a new-format store at Gurnee Mills for 2026; when we checked, IKEA’s store list still showed Gurnee Mills as a pick-up point, so confirm before you go. Other pick-up points are in Champaign-Urbana and at three Chicago university sites. Chicago has its own page.

Downstate is where distance starts to matter. From Peoria, Springfield, the Quad Cities or Carbondale, the suburban stores are a long drive, and the Metro East is nearer IKEA St. Louis, across the river in Missouri. The Champaign-Urbana pick-up point helps central Illinois with cabinet orders.

Custom doors for an Illinois IKEA kitchen can come from a contractor who measures and installs, or from a maker who ships flat-packed doors and panels to your home. Farmhouses and older bungalows often have walls that aren’t quite plumb, so whichever you choose, ask about filler strips and end panels sized for your room.

Questions about custom IKEA doors and fronts in Illinois

I live in central or southern Illinois. What are my options?

Order IKEA cabinets online for delivery, or collect them at the Champaign-Urbana pick-up point. In the Metro East, IKEA St. Louis may be the nearer store. For the doors, get quotes from makers who ship and from local contractors who install, using the same IKEA plan so the prices compare like for like.
