Order: IKEA work confirmed first, then the most local, then by name. Nobody can pay to move up this list.
Minnesota’s IKEA store, listed as IKEA Minneapolis, is actually in Bloomington, near the Mall of America. IKEA has also opened a plan and order point with pick-up in Roseville, north of St. Paul, where you can plan a kitchen with IKEA staff and collect orders. IKEA lists no pick-up points elsewhere in the state.
Outside the Twin Cities, distance shapes how you shop. From Duluth, Rochester, St. Cloud, Mankato or Moorhead, Bloomington is a drive of an hour or more, and from the Iron Range or the northwest it’s much longer. Having the cabinets delivered, then sourcing custom fronts separately, avoids a weekend spent hauling boxes down the interstate.
Custom doors for IKEA cabinets can come from a Twin Cities refacer who measures, supplies and installs, or from a maker who ships flat-packed doors anywhere in Minnesota. The climate is hard on wood: indoor air goes from sticky in July to very dry once the furnace is running. Ask makers how their solid-wood doors are dried and sealed, and consider painted MDF or laminate if you want fronts that stay put through the seasons.
IKEA calls it IKEA Minneapolis, but the address is 8000 IKEA Way in Bloomington, and it offers in-store kitchen planning. For a shorter trip from the north and east metro, the Roseville plan and order point has planners and pick-up but a smaller showroom. Either way, makers and refacers price custom fronts or full IKEA kitchen refacing from the finished plan.
Ask each maker for a shipped price to your ZIP code and a realistic timeline, and mention it if your road is seasonal or tricky for a freight truck. Doors travel flat, boxed or on a pallet. Open and inspect them on arrival, then let them sit indoors for a few days before a carpenter hangs them.
