Order: IKEA work confirmed first, then the most local, then by name. Nobody can pay to move up this list.
Missouri’s IKEA store is in Midtown St. Louis, and IKEA lists two pick-up points in the St. Louis area, at Earth City and Hazelwood. On the other side of the state, Kansas City shoppers usually head to IKEA Merriam, just across the line in Kansas, which has a pick-up point in Olathe as well.
Between and below the two metros, the miles add up. From Springfield, Branson, Joplin, Columbia or Cape Girardeau, neither store is close, though IKEA’s new small store in Tulsa, Oklahoma, may be nearer for the southwest corner. Ordering cabinets online and custom fronts separately keeps the whole project at home.
Custom doors for IKEA cabinets suit a wide range of Missouri houses, from brick bungalows in St. Louis to newer builds around Lee’s Summit or O’Fallon. In older homes, walls and floors are rarely true, so ask anyone quoting IKEA kitchen refacing about scribed fillers and end panels cut to fit. If you buy from a maker who ships, settle in advance who will hang the doors and adjust the hinges once they arrive.
IKEA Merriam, in Kansas, is the nearest store for most of the metro, and IKEA also lists a pick-up point in Olathe. Crossing State Line Road changes nothing for custom doors: makers and refacers price from your IKEA plan wherever the cabinets were bought, and shipped fronts reach either side of the line.
From Springfield or Joplin, the St. Louis and Merriam stores are both long trips. IKEA’s small store in Tulsa, listed as newly open, may be closer for some, but check what it stocks before you go. Many people simply order the cabinets online for delivery and buy custom fronts from a maker who ships, with a local handyman to install.
