Order: IKEA work confirmed first, then the most local, then by name. Nobody can pay to move up this list.
Ohio has two IKEA stores: IKEA Columbus, on the north side of the city near Polaris, and IKEA West Chester, between Cincinnati and Dayton. IKEA also lists pick-up points in Cleveland-Brooklyn, Cincinnati-Hamilton and Columbus-Groveport.
Northeast Ohio is the gap on that map. Cleveland, Akron, Canton and Youngstown have no store, though the Brooklyn pick-up point near Cleveland handles cabinet orders, and IKEA Pittsburgh may be the easier drive from the Mahoning Valley. Toledo is closer to IKEA Canton, in Michigan, than to Columbus.
Custom doors for IKEA kitchens can come from either of two directions in Ohio: a local refacer who measures your room and fits everything, or a maker who builds to your IKEA plan and ships the fronts flat-packed. The state’s housing runs from century homes in Cincinnati’s older neighborhoods to postwar ranches in the suburbs, and in an older house it pays to ask how the installer will deal with walls that aren’t square. Rules for installers vary from city to city, so ask your local building department whether contractors must register there.
IKEA has no store in northeast Ohio, but it lists a pick-up point in Brooklyn, near Cleveland, run by RXO. You can plan online, order the cabinets for collection or home delivery, and have custom fronts quoted from the same plan. IKEA Columbus and IKEA Pittsburgh are each roughly two hours away if you’d like to see kitchens in person.
Yes. IKEA kitchen refacing works in older houses as long as the cabinets are planned around the room. In Cincinnati, Dayton or Akron, many have floors and walls that aren’t level or square. A refacer who visits can measure and scribe fillers on site; if you order shipped fronts, ask the maker for oversized fillers and end panels your installer can trim to fit.
