Custom fronts for IKEA kitchens across Ontario

Ontario has more IKEA stores than any other province, and nearly all of them are in the south. IKEA lists seven: Burlington, Etobicoke, North York, London White Oaks, Ottawa, Toronto Downtown and Vaughan. Plan and order points are in Barrie, Kitchener, London, St. Catharines and Windsor, and pick-up locations in Barrie, Kingston, London, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Windsor.

Toronto, Mississauga and Ottawa have their own pages. This one is for the rest of the province: cottage country, the Bruce Peninsula, the farm towns of eastern Ontario, and the North, where Thunder Bay is closer to IKEA Winnipeg than to any Ontario store.

Custom fronts suit a split approach. Order the IKEA cabinet boxes for delivery or pick-up, then have doors, drawer fronts and panels made separately. Near the larger centres, a local refacer can measure and install. Further out, you can choose a maker who ships flat-packed custom fronts, drilled for IKEA hinges, by courier or freight. If you’re near Sudbury or Thunder Bay, ask about freight time before you book your installer.

Questions about custom IKEA doors and fronts in Ontario

I live in Northern Ontario. Can I still get custom fronts for an IKEA kitchen?

Yes. IKEA lists pick-up locations in Sudbury and Thunder Bay, so cabinet orders can come that far, and the fronts can travel separately. Look for a maker who ships flat-packed doors and panels, and ask how they’re packed, how long freight takes to your postal code, and whether hinge holes come pre-drilled. A local carpenter can then hang and adjust them.

Do I need to go to an IKEA store to plan an Ontario kitchen?

Not necessarily. IKEA describes its plan and order points, including Barrie, Kitchener, London, St. Catharines and Windsor, as places for one-on-one planning of projects like kitchens, and you can also plan at home online. Once you have a plan, upload it to Fronts and ask for a quote on custom doors for your IKEA cabinets.
