Order: IKEA work confirmed first, then the most local, then by name. Nobody can pay to move up this list.
Pennsylvania has three IKEA stores. Two serve the Philadelphia area, in Conshohocken and South Philadelphia, and IKEA Pittsburgh is in Robinson Township, west of the city. IKEA also lists a plan and order point with pick-up in Media, Delaware County, and a pick-up point in West Mifflin, south of Pittsburgh.
Between those two corners lies most of the state. From Harrisburg, Lancaster, State College, Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, the Lehigh Valley or Erie, the nearest store is a long drive, so many homeowners plan online and order cabinets for delivery. Makers who ship custom fronts flat-packed fit that pattern well.
Much of Pennsylvania’s housing is old. Philadelphia rowhouses and Pittsburgh’s hillside homes often have narrow kitchens and walls that wander, and a refacer who measures on site can allow for that. If you order shipped doors instead, plan filler strips with care.
Contractors who do $5,000 or more of home improvement work a year must register with the state Attorney General under the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act, and their contracts must carry that registration number.
Under the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act, the contract must be in writing and show the contractor’s state registration number, and you can cancel within three business days of signing. For IKEA kitchen refacing, also check that it lists every door, drawer front and panel, the finish, who removes the old fronts and when installation happens.
IKEA lists stores in Conshohocken and South Philadelphia, plus a plan and order point with pick-up in Media. Any of them can help with the cabinet plan. The custom doors for your IKEA kitchen are ordered separately, from a local refacer or a maker who ships. Across the river, IKEA’s Cherry Hill planning point in New Jersey is another option.
