The IKEA for Halifax is actually in Dartmouth, on Cutler Avenue at Dartmouth Crossing. For Dartmouth, Cole Harbour and Bedford it’s close. From the peninsula, Clayton Park or Spryfield, it means a trip over one of the harbour bridges.
It’s also the only full IKEA store in Atlantic Canada. New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland have IKEA pick-up locations rather than stores, so the Dartmouth store serves a wide area.
The store supplies the SEKTION boxes, hinges and inner drawers. Custom fronts from an independent maker can make a standard IKEA layout feel at home in a North End row house, a South End Victorian or a new build in Bedford West.
Because the store opened in 2017, most IKEA kitchens put in around Halifax since then are SEKTION, the system IKEA has sold since 2015. If you inherited an older IKEA kitchen, check whether it’s the earlier AKURUM system before ordering.
Fronts lets you send your plan once and compare refacers who measure and install around the Halifax Regional Municipality with makers who ship flat-packed custom doors for IKEA kitchens to Nova Scotia, whether you are planning a new kitchen or IKEA kitchen refacing.
IKEA Halifax is at 645 Cutler Avenue in Dartmouth, in the Dartmouth Crossing area. Halifax Transit route 72 stops at the lights on Cutler Avenue next to the store. It has pick-up lockers available around the clock, and click and collect orders can also go to a nearby third-party pick-up location.
Yes. Makers who ship send flat-packed fronts by freight, so distance isn’t a barrier, but delivery usually takes longer and costs more the further it travels. Ask for a delivery estimate up front and check each box when it arrives. A refacer based in the Halifax area can measure and install, which avoids freight altogether.
Yes, as long as the cabinets are SEKTION. People use them in laundry rooms, mudrooms and built-ins, and the same fronts fit. IKEA’s bathroom vanities are a different range with their own sizes, so check with the maker before ordering for those. In damp rooms, ask which finishes handle moisture well.
