Order: IKEA work confirmed first, then the most local, then by name. Nobody can pay to move up this list.
Washington has one IKEA store, in Renton, and a plan and order point with pick-up in Redmond. IKEA also lists pick-up points in Bellingham and Spokane. Seattle has its own page, and so does Portland, Oregon, whose IKEA store sits just across the Columbia River from Vancouver, Washington.
East of the Cascades, the picture changes. From Spokane, the Tri-Cities, Yakima or Wenatchee, Renton is on the far side of a mountain pass, and winter weather can slow or close those crossings. The Spokane pick-up point helps with cabinet orders, but many eastern Washington homeowners will find it simpler to order online and have custom fronts shipped.
Whoever installs your doors, check them first. Washington requires construction contractors to register with the Department of Labor & Industries, and L&I’s online Verify tool shows whether a registration is active. A maker who ships flat-packed custom fronts to your door can be based anywhere; the person who hangs them should be registered.
Plan online, order the IKEA cabinets for delivery or collection at the Spokane pick-up point, and upload your plan to Fronts for door quotes. Makers who ship can send flat-packed doors and panels straight to your home. Ask for a delivered price and transit time, and allow extra in winter, when the passes can hold up freight.
Use the Verify tool on the Department of Labor & Industries website, which shows whether a contractor’s registration is active, along with bond and insurance details. Ask for the registration number before you agree on a price. If you’re only buying fronts from a maker who ships, the registration question applies to whoever does the installation.
